Viability Study of Conversion of Conventional Tricycle to e-Trike

Objective

The main objective of this research is to study the viability on the conversion of conventional tricycle to e-Trike.

Specific Objectives:
1.    Determine the various drive cycle based on the different terrain
2.    Identify if there are improvements on the current converted e-trike that can further reduce the conversion cost
       3. Compare the cost and operation effectiveness including mileage efficiency of the conventional tricycle to the converted e-Trike.
       4.  Draft a PNS to be submitted to DTI-BPS on conversion of conventional tricycle to e-Trike;
       5. Conduct policy study on the implementation of conversion of conventional tricycle to e-Trike with focus on the science based    policy for conversion including the impact assessment on health and the environment.
      6. Develop a cost effective conversion kit (reduce the current estimated cost of Php 30,000 – 40,000)

Output

Product:2 units converted e-tricycle (should be based on the Tuguegarao design) and Low Cost Conversion Kit

Publication: Two (2) for refereed journal,draft PNS

Policy:

1. Science-based Policy for the conversion which includes the health, environment, livelihood as well as a business models options for LGUs.

2. Impact Assessment Report onthe conversion to the local government unit (LGU), community, health and to the economy

3. Business Model for LGUS

Description

A viability study on the conversion of old conventional tricycle to e-trike will be made. The conversion will be made by changing the engine to electric motor while the body and frame of the tricycle will still be used. The conversion, since will be using electric motor, will result to lesser carbon emission and lower fuel and maintenance cost. It will also address the issue of noise pollution.
